Print Specifications
Everything you need to prepare your files for perfect gallery-quality prints.
File Preparation
We accept file uploads up to 1 GB directly on our website. If your file exceeds that size, simply upload a placeholder image in its place and email your file transfer download link to support@artbeatstudios.com, and our team will take it from there.
- Accepted file formats: JPG, TIFF, and PNG
- 8-bit RGB files only
- Preferred embedded color space: Adobe RGB (1998). Other profiles are accepted but may result in unexpected appearance.
- If retouching in Photoshop, flatten all layers before saving.
- For sample prints, export images to the sample print size to reduce upload time.
- Our printers render each image at the optimum resolution, but this will not improve lower-resolution files.
File Formats
We accept the following formats and settings:
JPG
- 8 bits per channel
- Baseline Standard encoding
PNG
- 8 bits per channel
TIFF
- 8 bits per channel
- No Layers
- No alpha channels
- Image Compression: LZW
- Pixel Order: Interleaved
Monitor Calibration
To ensure your monitor matches the colors in your prints, we recommend a properly calibrated and profiled monitor using a spectrophotometer. Without calibration, an ICC profile will not display as intended.
No calibration hardware? You can approximate by adjusting monitor brightness so the white point matches a sheet of white paper. This mimics reflective print vs. a backlit screen. When in doubt, order a smaller print first.
Color Profile and Photoshop Settings
We recommend embedding an ICC profile into your files. Our working space is Adobe RGB (1998). Files outside this space are converted automatically.
Quick Convert: Photoshop > Edit > Convert Profile > Destination Space: Adobe RGB (1998).
Full Color Settings:
- Edit > Color Settings > Working Spaces > RGB: Adobe RGB (1998)
- Color Management Policies > RGB: Convert to Working RGB
- Profile Mismatches: Ask When Opening and Ask When Pasting
Important: Always check Embed Color Profile when saving.
Recommended Resolution
Preferred resolution: 150 DPI (Maximum: 300 DPI, Minimum: 100 DPI). Photos should be captured at the highest pixel resolution possible.
- 8x10: 1200x1500 preferred, 800x1000 minimum
- 8x12: 1200x1800 preferred, 800x1200 minimum
- 11x14: 1650x2100 preferred, 1100x1400 minimum
- 16x20: 2400x3000 preferred, 1600x2000 minimum
- 20x24: 3000x3600 preferred, 2000x2400 minimum
- 24x30: 3600x4500 preferred, 2400x3000 minimum
- 30x40: 4500x6000 preferred, 3000x4000 minimum
Understanding Histograms
A histogram graphically represents the data within an image file. Understanding histograms improves exposure control, which determines pixel values. Properly exposed images are the most important factor for print color management.

Bleed Guidelines and Signatures
Do not add any bleed to your uploaded image. Our automated system adds required bleeds for each product.
- Keep text, logos, signatures, and important elements at least 1/2 inch from the edge.
- For mirrored-edge canvas, signatures less than 1.5 inches from the edge will appear on the edge wrap.
